At Impact Center for Policy Research, our Public Policy Engagement Program is dedicated to empowering the people of Zambia to actively engage in shaping their nation’s public policies. Through a range of activities—including essay competitions, policy pitches, stakeholder forums, and public discussions—we aim to foster informed policy dialogue and drive sustainable development and economic freedom across the country.
Engaging the Public in Policy Discourse
Essay Competitions: We invite Zambians to participate in essay competitions that explore critical public policy issues affecting their lives and the nation. Topics will cover economic freedom, regulatory reforms, and sustainable development. These essays will not only contribute to national policy debates but also provide a platform for individuals to voice their perspectives and solutions.
Public Policy Pitch Competition: This competition provides Zambians with the opportunity to present innovative policy solutions to pressing challenges. Participants will pitch their ideas to a panel of experts, including policymakers and economists, with the goal of developing practical solutions that address Zambia’s most critical issues.
Facilitating Collaborative Policy Dialogue
Our program creates platforms for Zambians—including business leaders, policymakers, and everyday citizens—to engage in meaningful dialogue about public policy. Through stakeholder forums, we address regulatory challenges and advocate for policies that support economic freedom and growth, ensuring that the voices of ordinary Zambians contribute to shaping the country’s future.
Producing and Sharing Policy Briefs
Our team will produce concise, evidence-based policy briefs that analyze key issues affecting Zambia. These briefs will offer actionable recommendations for improving the business climate and fostering sustainable development. We will disseminate these briefs to government bodies, industry associations, and media outlets to influence policy reforms that benefit the broader public.
Hosting Public Policy Talks
We will organize policy talks featuring experts, economists, and policymakers who will discuss important economic and public policy challenges. These events will be open to the public, providing a space for Zambians to gain insights, engage in discussions, and contribute to the debate on policy reforms that affect their lives.
Building Capacity for Informed Policy Leadership
Our program also focuses on building the capacity of Zambians to engage effectively in policy advocacy. Through training sessions, participants will learn how to articulate their policy proposals and influence decision-makers, empowering them to play an active role in shaping Zambia’s policies.
ESSAY COMPETITION
To initiate public involvement, the program hosts essay competitions on vital policy topics such as economic freedom, regulatory reform, and sustainable development. These competitions invite participants from diverse backgrounds to explore and present their views on policies affecting their lives and communities. By giving individuals a platform to express their perspectives and propose solutions, these essays contribute to broader national debates. Winners of these competitions not only gain recognition but also help to influence policy discussions by highlighting pressing issues and potential solutions relevant to the Zambian context.
PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
This competition offers Zambians an interactive space to present innovative policy solutions to real-world problems. Participants pitch their policy ideas to a panel of experts, including policymakers, economists, and industry leaders, providing practical and actionable ideas to address Zambia’s most critical challenges. This format not only encourages innovation but also allows participants to receive direct feedback from experienced professionals, facilitating the refinement and potential implementation of impactful policy proposals. Hosting Public Policy Talks
The program hosts regular public talks featuring experts, economists, policymakers, and thought leaders who discuss critical economic and public policy challenges facing Zambia. These events are open to the public and encourage citizens to participate in discussions, ask questions, and share their thoughts on policy matters. By providing a space for dialogue between experts and the public, these talks make policy issues more accessible, inform citizens on key topics, and foster a sense of shared responsibility for national progress. They also give attendees insight into the complexities of policy-making and inspire them to contribute to policy reform efforts.
